Sony RX10 III Review – High Frame Rate DSLR – Best Slow Motion Camera 2017

Best Slow Motion Camera 2017 High Frame Rate DSLR

Sony RX10 III – Best Slow Motion Camera 2017

Right off the bat, I want to make a strong statement. The Sony RX10 III is the best slow motion camera in 2017—An Affordable High Frame Rate DSLR @ only $1,300. An enthusiast’s camera equipped with an F2.4-4 20MP lens. The CMOS sensor and the BIONZ X technology are shared with its predecessor – the Sony RX10 II. Sony decided to use the same technology due to its high quality performance, range and ability to capture high speed videos.

My Favorite Features:

  • 4K video @ 60 FPS
  • HD @ 1000FPS
  • 600mm Zoom!!

Sony’s RX camera series was designed with a focus on their ability to capture videos. The high frame rate DSLR camera comes with an enormous zoom lens. Even though the design of the new model might look similar to its predecessor, when compared sitting right next to each other, the differences are quickly spotted. Sony has implemented design tweaks, meant to improve the camera’s grip and body. Unfortunately, that came with the price of insignificantly increasing the weight of the product.

The Key Features

• Bionz X processor
• 20MP CMOS sensor
• 4K Video
• High-resolution tilting-screen OLED electronic viewfinder
• F2.4-4 Zeiss VarioSonnar lens
• Insanely slow-motion video capture 1000FPS in Full HD

Many people change their cameras in an instance when they find the new model has some kind of a new feature, regardless of whether it is actually worth the money spent. With that in mind changing the RX10 II to RX10 III is simply the way to go. Even when you compare the price to quality ratio, the RX10 III is not only the best slow motion camera 2017 – it is actually also the cheapest slow motion camera. You might not necessarily require the 600mm reach, in fact, the camera is so well designed, and the high frame rate DSLR camera’s lens performs at such a high level, that you will almost never need to use the extreme reach feature.

Comparison to Competitors

Compared to its predecessor, its only disadvantage is the weight. The insignificant additional weight, however, improves the handling of the camera plus it adds new features. The RX10 III has an improved lens, better battery life and comes at a better value in terms of price to quality ratio.

When compared to same price range cameras from other companies, the differences are quite a few, on top of the previously listed ones, the camera proves to be the best slow motion camera out of the bunch, as it provides better out of focus renderings, better shooting capabilities under bright light as well as high frame rate and 4K video shootings.

Conclusion and Verdict

The high frame rate DSLR camera would be the best solution not only for families looking for a vacation camera, but also amateur filmmakers, and photography enthusiasts. It’s the perfect option for documentary and newsroom journalists as the tilting screen could be just the thing you might require while on the job.

If you are looking for a premium bridge camera, which could do a bit of everything, the Sony RX10 III won’t leave you disappointed.

Sony Alpha A7S II (4K + 120fps HD)

a7s-2

The a7S II has evolved in both Stills and Movies adding internal 4K video recording, 5-axis image stabilization and High-speed AF with enhanced accuracy – while maintaining its legendary low-light/ low noise capability for extraordinary high sensitivity of up to ISO 409,6002.

The first thing you need to know about the a7S is that it can record 1080p footage internally or be used to output 4K video to an external recorder. The internal 1080p footage is recorded using the XAVC S format, a more consumer-friendly version of Sony’s XAVC system. This is the first of the company’s cameras to use the format, which frees the camera from the bitrate restrictions of the AVCHD standard.

12.2MP full-frame sensor for low light & wide dynamic range
The innovative a7S II features a 12.2 effective MP full-frame Exmor CMOS sensor paired with a powerful BIONZ X image processor, allowing it to shoot at a sensitivity range of ISO 50 – 409600 with unprecedented dynamic range. The extra-large pixels on the a7S II collects dramatically more light than t raditional cameras to produce beautifully detailed low-noise images in even the most challenging lighting situations.

World’s first Full-frame 4K movie recording with fu ll pixel readout and no pixel binning
The a7S II is the world’s first camera to offer internal 4K movie recording in the full-frame format with full pixel readout and no line skipping or pixel binning – resulting in images that exhibit higher resolution and less moiré and jaggies than typical 4K movies.

It also provides you the option of shooting 4k in the super 35mm format and the ability to capture uncompressed 4:2:2 Full HD or 4K QFHD output via HDMI to optional 3rd party external recorders. Enjoy the improved autofocus with 169 AF points and let every lens benefit from the 5-axis SteadyShot INSIDE image stabilization.

120fps Full HD 1920×1080 high-frame rate video for 5x slow motion
For the first time ever in the Sony a7 camera series, the a7S II can support high frame rate 120fps shooting in full-HD resolution (1920×1080) 100Mbps using the entire full frame sensor. Video can immediately be reviewed on the camera screen and eventually edited into appealing 4x/5x slow motion footage in Full HD (24p/30p) resolution.
